Honey has been used in food and medicine for centuries and is a great alternative to sugar. While it does still have calories, it has tons of health benefits that sugar does not. It is a natural energy booster due to the fructose and glucose in it. Honey can help prevent fatigue when working out or provide an instant pick me up when you’re feeling a little low on energy. It gives you a more sustainable, long-lasting energy boost too since the fructose is slowly released into the bloodstream. Honey has antibacterial properties and can be used to help soothe a sore throat or cough. There are antioxidants in honey and it can help boost your immunity.
